Sony releases "Men In Black 3" teaser trailer

10 years after the theatrical debut of (the frankly god-awful) sequel Men in Black II (2002), and almost 15 years since the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed original, today Sony released the first official trailer for the upcoming Men in Black 3.

Sonnenfeld returns to direct the film starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, who reprise their roles as alien-policing Agents J and K. The third entry in the franchise has J traveling back to 1969 to investigate a case. Josh Brolin is set to play a younger K, with Emma ThompsonBill Hader (playing Andy Warhol!), Alice Eve and Jemaine Clement also joining the cast.

The script was apparently extensively rewritten during production due to concerns certain cast members had with the storyline and characters. David KoeppJeff Nathanson and Michael Soccio are credited with screenplay duties, according to IMDb. Etan Cohen, screenwriter of Tropic Thunder (2008) and Mike Judge's Idiocracy (2006), is also listed.

Both Koepp and Nathanson have written scripts for Steven Spielberg--an executive producer on the MIB films--before, including the critically reviled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). Soccio served as a staff writer on sitcoms like The King of Queens (which he also co-produced) and Smith's breakout series, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Men In Black 3 is scheduled to be released Memorial Day weekend, 2012, in 2D, 3D and IMAX.

I don't know, the film looks sorta horrible. But the cast is certainly promising. And it can't possibly be as bad as MIB II, right? That's like scientifically impossible.
